Brushwork, translated into clay.

Celadon ceramic forms laid out on a table, hands arranging them

The name

DAMI comes from dami, a Japanese brush technique for washing soft pigment onto ceramics. It is also the short form of my name.

The connection

Painting remains my primary practice. DAMI is a dedicated space for my ceramic work: a sub-brand for smaller ceramic objects, functional pieces and painted surfaces.

It is a smaller, more accessible part of my practice. The ceramics carry the same interest in mark-making, brushwork and surface that lives in my paintings, translated into clay.
